Breast Cancer: 7 Facts You Should Know
Breast cancer affects both men and women and is the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States.
What you can do:
1. Know family history of breast (and other) cancer.
2. Starting at age 40, get an annual mammogram, earlier if you are high
risk. Have a clinical breast exam done every year.
3. Perform self-breast exams at home to check for irregularities.
4. Maintain a healthy weight – being overweight increases risk of
developing cancers.
5. Eat a healthy diet consisting of numerous vegetables and fruits.
6. Limit alcohol consumption – 2 drinks a day for men and 1 drink a day
for women.
7. Visit your health care provider to obtain a mammogram prescription.
